He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
