He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to him thou attendest 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he feareth 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 In honored books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
