He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 For him who does not care, 5 You pay full attention, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 You neglect. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
