The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
