He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
