He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And he feareth 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
