He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you attend; 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and who has fear of God, 9 You neglect. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man therefore consider his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
