He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
