He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
