The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
