He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honoured leaves 13 most exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
