He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
