He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
