The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
