The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
