The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then will you go? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
