The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
