The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
