The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and brightening morning, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
