The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the breath of morning 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
