The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
