The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
