The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 The rising dawn, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
