The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
