The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the breath of morning 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
