The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
