The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 on a great day 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
