The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
