The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
