The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
