The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
