The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
