The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
