The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
