The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Will pray for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
