The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
