The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
