The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
