The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
