The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
