The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
