The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
