The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
