The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
