The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it descends, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he approached and descended 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
