The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
