The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
