The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 by the promised day, 2 And by oath of the day that is a witness and by oath of a day in which the people present themselves. 3 destroyed were the people of the trench, 4 by a burning fire 5 when they were seated around it 6 to watch what they were doing to the believers, 7 They had nothing against them, except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise! 8 to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. God is witness over all things. 9 Surely (as for) those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, then do not repent, they shall have the chastisement of hell, and they shall have the chastisement of burning. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern. 12 It is He who originates and repeats. 13 He is the All-forgiving, the Most Loving One, 14 Lord of the Throne, the Glorious, 15 The great doer of what He will. 16 Did the story of the armies reach you? 17 Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud? 18 In fact, the disbelievers had always rejected (Our revelations). 19 But Allah doth encompass them from behind! 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 inscribed on a well-guarded Tablet. 22
