The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 it is not a jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
