The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
