The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And no trifle. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
